@freemo If you think it's upstream, then I'll file an issue on mastodon
@freemo It's the markdown format. I'm using ``` with newlines embedded in the OP, but the lines run together. Is there a place I can check the syntax?
Does everyone use #Python's `object()` for unique tokens? Like:
```
no_match = object()
val = some_dict.get('key', no_match)
if val is not no_match:
do_something()
```
I don't know what else `object()` would be used for (and why they'd keep it).

Several exceedingly clever and effective engineers I work with are immigrants or children of immigrants. If you're a U.S. citizen, then their work *does* benefit you indirectly.
Has any study been done on the effect of student loan debt and whether undergraduates decide to continue to grad school or do research? When I think back, I almost certainly would have gone into a computational neuroscience research track if I didn't have debts worrying me or if I was as sure I could pay them off doing research as working professionally as a software engineer.
The particulars may be different for others, but I have a hunch others made similar choices. There are, undoubtedly, a number of other factors influencing decisions like that, but I'd submit that personal finances are bound to be a major one.

Seems like #soylent (the meal replacement company) could have bought gov't ration bars, relabeled them, and upped the price. Ration bars actually don't taste that bad, and they get the job done for a meal replacement.
enslaving a population to monopolize a commodity and fund your wars over power and religion? natural
wanting to be who you are without getting hassled? not natural
Researcher hacks over 35 tech firms in npm and PyPI attack
@lupyuen Yeah, I saw another post about this...are companies really just pulling software direct from public repositories? I mean, your risk profile is your own, but it's not even that hard to set up an artifactory or nexus and block retrieval of your internal packages. This is a known thing. So, if your company gets hacked this way, it's kinda your own fault.

I remember this scene in "Waking Life" where a character says something like "text is unreadable in dreams" or "you can't read a clock in dreams". That's total B.S. -- I've done both of those things in my dreams multiple times.
