One criticism of a universal basic income is that it would make work optional from an economic perspective, but I don't hear as often *why* that's a bad thing. I think there's an implicit assumption that the economy needs people to work jobs that they would only do if they don't have an option to do otherwise. #ubi #economy #work
@Sphinx 'sokay my really important passwords are only in my brain 😄 nothing I can't lose in keepass

@caffeine that caveat, "if they are present on OpenStreetMap", isn't great. Would be better if they linked to an OSM editor so you could add unregistered restaurants.
China is now blocking all encrypted HTTPS traffic that uses TLS 1.3 and ESNI.
Not unexpected, and might be the the first one many countries/companies blocking it.
@grainloom an artist might add an alternative message in the alt text that's specifically targeted for the blind. Somewhat subversive. Can lose novelty quickly. Would be interesting in a series of works though -- esp. for works where the message of the image isn't translatable into words.
it's nice that more and more artists are writing image descriptions, but often they are very vague and aren't actually _alt_ text. like, they aren't viable alternatives to viewing the image.
eg.: "fanart of <character>" is not really telling anything. what style are they drawn in? what is the picture trying to communicate? how are they dressed? facial expression? etc.
@grainloom what about "associate".
I'd like a way to get a running digest of toots from my subscriptions. I get flooded with toots from one or two *really* active posters. I still want to see their toots (so muting or unsubscribing isn't great), but with fixed or manually specified weighting in my feed vs weighting based on publication volume. #meta #mastodon #tusky
