@soup_reviews why do some people want to? retribution and assigning blame. what's a good reason? understanding how it became the problem it did. you're right though that how it became a problem has more to do with the response...and there's definitely some errors to be discussed there.

#BOFH excuse: We can't implement multiprocessing because the atomic test-and-set operation has been banned in the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty by the UN General Assembly.

I hadn't realized it before in these terms, but early in Einstein's career, physicists weren't even certain of the physical reality of atoms. By the time he died, they had working systems built on nuclear fission.

Collectively, I've probably watched as many hours of *clips* from movies and TV than I have the original media

@s8n I will 😋 (over the course of 2-3 days. that's a lot of asparagus...)

smbc-comics.com/comic/science- The second to last one in the list, "a list of mathematical findings that failed to return an interesting result is available upon request" would actually be good. Would avoid some troublesome stats hacking

Threat modeling is the cornerstone for teaching all other digital security concepts. Help learners use the question-based methodology for assessing risks, and get them ready to understand what they face as well as to create a plan of action. sec.eff.org/topics/threat-mode

@eff super important. there's a lot of "hardening guides" and things like that which, if you're in the position of just applying the controls, can obscure the prep work of tailoring the guidelines to your risk profile

I don't get how digital cameras cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Like, what goes into one of these things that it costs more than a smartphone?

also, battery life estimation still seems *really* poorly calibrated, but that's an OS or driver problem I suppose. Guess I'll do some digging

@izaya so it's basically just integration? I'm pretty good at integrating software. Maybe I could actually help with that.

one weird thing is that my portable charger has a button, which I thought was just for turning on status indicator, that turns on the phone. I don't think it works that way for any of my other devices🤔

@izaya I guess. I haven't actually tried it as a phone yet 😆
Why is MMS missing? It's been ages since I looked at the specs for MMS - is it that much more difficult than SMS?

I've tried the now with the latest and , and it's considerably less jankey than with KDE Plasma Mobile. It's still kinda jankey, and pretty skeletal, but closer to what I would expect for a "beta" FOSS project on mobile.

@Flisk@cybre.space ok but who's out here just snatching snails?

@izaya hpmor? I couldn't finish it. Harry fawning over Quirrel (who clearly is possessed by a dark lord in this version of Hogwarts) became insufferable.

Harry's anger issues were kind of interesting, though I can't personally relate. I was somewhat annoyed that initially the author seemed to valorize the trait, but there were consequences and Harry went through self-reflection and remorse.

still dislike the "precocious" adult in a child's body thing it has going on. maybe i don't know enough children, but it's hard to imagine a kid who could do what Harry does
