Does everyone use #Python's `object()` for unique tokens? Like:
```
no_match = object()
val = some_dict.get('key', no_match)
if val is not no_match:
do_something()
```
I don't know what else `object()` would be used for (and why they'd keep it).

Has any study been done on the effect of student loan debt and whether undergraduates decide to continue to grad school or do research? When I think back, I almost certainly would have gone into a computational neuroscience research track if I didn't have debts worrying me or if I was as sure I could pay them off doing research as working professionally as a software engineer.
The particulars may be different for others, but I have a hunch others made similar choices. There are, undoubtedly, a number of other factors influencing decisions like that, but I'd submit that personal finances are bound to be a major one.

Seems like #soylent (the meal replacement company) could have bought gov't ration bars, relabeled them, and upped the price. Ration bars actually don't taste that bad, and they get the job done for a meal replacement.

I remember this scene in "Waking Life" where a character says something like "text is unreadable in dreams" or "you can't read a clock in dreams". That's total B.S. -- I've done both of those things in my dreams multiple times.
It's good to encourage software citation. I wonder if folks are or will be using these styles of citation even when they know they exist. I know when I've needed to cite software before, I just made a @misc entry, put the software name in the title, version in the description (or note?) along with a URL. No one worried about it, least of all, me. Kinda hard to see the push or pull towards this format other than an individual, PI, funder, or publisher mandating it.
