Peeling Back the History of Mars, One Layer at a Time. June 3, 2022 (Sol 3492) credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/MSSS/fredk

I rely a lot on bird calls / songs to identify birds, but mockingbirds are really confusing there. I use a bird ID app when I can't recognize the calls. I saw a mockingbird and decided to record it: the app pinged for four other species besides the mockingbird (including two simultaneously??) as I stood there watching it

Oh wow it's a video of the origin of the quote in my bio. I had no idea this existed. Thanks, @ike. What a treasure she was and will always be.

The amazing EIRSAT-1 team invited me to help for a few minutes building the final version of Ireland’s first satellite. What an incredible opportunity!

so if anyone has any suggestions for stuff that doesn't fit anything mentioned I'm all ears

I recently started using an AI-based software that enables my team to get more science out of my days on Mars.

Now, I can target interesting rocks and zap them with my SuperCam laser for my team to analyze later. twitter.com/nasajpl/status/153

I really like that when restores a session, it puts the windows on the correct virtual desktops. 😌

tastes pretty good paired with some steamed white rice and greens, and flakes up well, but all the salt and fat is pretty intense. I'll have to have smaller portions in the future.

Since I took this picture three years ago, I'm more and more convinced that I'll never take a better one.

Baked some trout. Covered in kosher salt and sugar over night, wiped off, rinsed off, baked uncovered at 425°F for abt 15min, rotated and back in for abt 10min, on top of oven with the oven on for about five minutes.
I seasoned with black pepper, ginger, sage, olive oil, but no additional salt since it's pretty salty already

If you're in Chile or are planning to visit soon, ESO's observatories are reopening for in-person visits!

The tours are free, but you have to register in advance: eso.org/public/announcements/a

I'm biased 'cause I worked there for 7 years, but it's totally worth it!

why does have search suggestions from the web on by default?

@abbienormal @cwebber there are some neat things that can be done that reduces the impact of the tagging stuff.

Perhaps this blog post I wrote would be interesting: blog.dhsdevelopments.com/commo
