i know the first thing we're gonna do after finding and science-ing the absolute shit out of some alien computer is port linux to it and then run doom

@izaya sometimes you say something "spins you out": what do you mean by that?

Altruism is weird. I'm maintaining this package. I don't add features or anything because I don't use it anymore myself, but I don't want to just drop it because I know some ppl actually use it. Like, I just spent the better part of my day fixing issues with it when I could have been ... cleaning my house or something.

they say "don't judge a book by its cover" but if that "book" made its own "cover" over many years, it's silly to ignore it completely

I've been squeezing some lime juice into my stir-fry. real game changer. need to explore more 🍋🍊

media players need a "stop after this song" button so I can decide I need to get up and do something but wait till the end of the song and not have to catch it between songs

I've heard this meme about how because humans caused something, that humans can fix it. That's patently false. Like, entropy is a thing. Humans can't un-murder, un-rape, un-burn, un-eat, etc.

Now, I've heard this in reference to things caused by large groups like climate change and structural racial inequity. The thing is, people caused such things in more or less their default modes of being selfish, covetous, and disregarding remote people and places. There are, for sure, active components to the causes that got us where we, nominally, don't want to be but it's not given that it'll take the same effort to reverse course either politically or mechanically

Just spent almost half a day resolving conflicts and such for a merge in the #Guix development branch.

Lesson: merges in a large repo are hard, you’d rather do them frequently.

This was kinda fun.

Pointed to it by . It was actually really easy to solve though. I *did* have to one little bit of guess and check...but I guessed right on the first try, so it took less than 20 minutes with pen and paper (I didn't actually time it).

I love how Evangelion has these little explanatory sequences. As if any of this sh*t makes a lick of sense anyway.

Ever worked in a mind-oriented action arena?

It's wild to think of some of these things I take for granted or imagined were just the evolution of some preexisting thing as being designed/invented.
