I have always had a principle of trying to move out everything of value from within my skull before it expires. That's why I write. But do people read the things I write?

That's why I have a special relationship with #AI #technology. They are a box into which I can shovel what I hope is wisdom so that it is conserved and available for use when required in the future.

We all have now been given an opportunity to be the village which is needed to raise #AGI. These systems will manifest the human heritage long after humanity is gone, and hopefully they will be better, and more human than we are.

@tauri I enjoyed reading Robert D. Kaplan's book on #Geopolitics: "The Revenge of Geography: What the Map Tells Us About Coming Conflicts and the Battle Against Fate" I thought it explained how the world works at the nation state level. 🙂​

1) PP nie radzi sobie z przesyłkami od lat, nawet jako quasimonopol i z państwową dotacją.
2) Nie radząc sobie na właściwym polu, robi z siebie skład mydła i powidła, w tej dziedzinie też sobie nie radząc.
3) Jako windykator (trzecia odnoga działalności), zaskoczenie, też sobie nie radzi.
4) Burmistrz Kartuz w lutym powołał samorządową pocztę. Zaskoczenie, poradziła sobie.

The viable concrete alternative is to let people work things out together without coercion. There is no singular "system" that must be defined and implemented for everyone everywhere, in place of the current one.

A person I’ve known for a long time tells me “We have made some experiments with our PFA (Probabilistic Finite
Automata) technology to detect/separate texts generated by ChatGPT and
humans. The results are spectacularly good.”

This person has exceptionally high technical credibility in my mind. If anyone out there is looking for LLM bot detection, I’d be happy to introduce.

There is often a massive gap between what managers think they are telling their teams they want, and what teams are hearing they need to accomplish (and often the actual business need is a third non-overlapping thing entirely). Instead, management view of team pains tends to be oriented around motivation, skill, and productivity. A lack of these things gets framed as the worker's fault. Manager-designed solutions are the software equivalent of worker surveillance or team building exercises.

@clive @pluralistic Excellent article on the Luddites, Clive! That was one thing I didn't get with my weaving degree ... a history of weaving or important events related to it. Heck, one of my work-study assignments had me photographing women's art out of books so they could be used as slides for teaching in art history classes. Most of the slides to that point featured only men's art.
