the key principle: distance itself can be used to encode information. by determining the correct starting [x,y] coordinate for each glider, any future state of the Life universe can be created, with effectively unbounded complexity. 🤯

Seen so many videos and writeups saying things along the lines of ‘Apple didn't show us a killer app for Vision Pro’, but they did — they spent an entire week showing developers just how easy it is to transition from iOS to visionOS, how it uses all the same tools and SDKs we use today, Xcode, TestFlight, SwiftUI, UIKit, etc. Non-developers and people outside the Apple scene may not realize just how profound that is, and how transformative it might be to the platform

- go to Lowe’s
- buy a 20” box fan
- buy 4x20”x30” Filterete 1900 filters (the blue ones (20” is the important measurement))
- buy wide painters tape (blue matches nicely)
- make a box out of the filters (arrows pointing in)
- tape the box fan to the top of the filter box, air blowing upward
- tape the corners of the fan grill so you don’t get backflow — stick a piece of paper over the corners and it’ll be obvious

Apple added #DX12 support to macOS and Apple Silicon via its Game Porting Toolkit. It’s basically a 20k patch to Wine that will make it easy to play AAA Windows games on macOS without using a VM. https://github.com/apple/homebrew-apple
