Reading a Wired article about Flipper Zero which is a $200 device that can be used to capture and replay data transmitted over radio signals like NFC, RFID and blue tooth.

It’s gone viral on TikTok as people have shown outlandish hacks as many of these protocols were not designed with security in mind.

You can find the article here wired.com/story/what-is-flippe

“White” is NOT a race…although it is codified as such [see any government application]

“Whiteness” is a moving target that expands and contracts based on who, in that moment, is ALLOWED to benefit from and leverage its systems, institutions, and policies of white supremacy and anti-Blackness

Who’s “white” changes whenever those in power need to distract its beneficiaries, from addressing the inherent harm and violence that is white supremacy; making them a complicit partner in exchange

Pour one out for all of the security practitioners who are going to have to spend the holidays patiently explaining that using a password manager is still good, actually, to people who have glanced at a headline about the latest LastPass breach.

For all my friends impacted by the cold snap: I hope y'all are staying warm and taking care of yourselves.

My thoughts are with you.

Once this idea came into my head, it refused to go away until I tried it. So now you can all share in my build of "Frosty the Glowman."

Making progress on putting up IKEA SKÅDIS pegboard on all of my lab's vertical surfaces. The one on the left is mounted to my BEKANT adjustable standing desk, and has a KUNGSFORS magnetic knife rack mounted to it with 3D printed hooks. It makes a perfect #PCB #badge display.
Still working out where everything goes. So far it's a great way to keep everything I need close, but off of my precious horizontal work surfaces.

It's 10:09 AM Eastern and I'm glad you are alive.

Thanks for being here with me.

The holidays can be a difficult time; have patience with yourself and others.

The bit about a lawyer being stopped from entering a music hall in the US because its facial recognition system picked up that she's part of a law company that's suing them is even crazier than I thought.

The law company isn't suing the music hall - it's suing a restaurant, in another state, which is owned by the hall's parent company MSG Entertainment. MSG gone ahead and harvested photos of all the lawyers in the firm and fed it to an image recognition system to ban them from every MSG Entertainment owned location.

People always tell me that if you've got nothing to hide then you've got nothing to fear. She's got nothing to hide and they still went after her.

If this doesn't start making people worried about facial recognition then there's serious trouble coming.

Of course I made some homemade artisanal bread while I'm down here helping my brother out; his oven is a little different than mine. This looks burned in the image but in person it's not bad; still I think his oven is around 3 minutes faster than mine.

In a moment of inspiration as privacy folks prep for CPRA & SCC updates at the end of the year, I decided last week to gift my team a modified book, re-titled: "'Twas the Night Before Privacy Updates"

I made a customized version for each person on the team. Here's what I wrote:

Waiting at the Atlanta airport for my brother and his boys; he's got them for a few days and I'm helping out:
