I appreciate seeing news articles shared on @Mastodon, but sometimes they don't have all the information.

Here are some best practices for sharing news:

1. Include the title of the article in the text (don't share *just* the link).

2. Go further! Pull out a key line or take-away from the article. This Mastodon, you've got more characters.

3. See if the author is on Mastodon. If so, *tag them* so they get credit. Tag the news outlet, too.

Like ninety percent of the #introduction posts I read I’m like “ This person is a huge nerd.” Which I mean in the best, most loving, most complimentary way. My people 😍

When I first signed up at mastodon I had no idea what the different instances were, how I would choose one over another or what difference any of it made. When you signed up, which is closest to your experience of choosing a server/instance to use?

Very quick intro before I have the spoons for a longer one! I’m part of the #Twittermigration and doing my best to learn about and respect the culture/etiquette here. I promise I’m not *all* doom and gloom, but I do use SM primarily for connecting with others in the Covid cautious community. I will put a CW on nearly all of my posts, but not sure how to approach reblogs. (Let me know if there’s a good way to be respectful about this.) I’d absolutely love to make new friends here, but please don’t follow me if you don’t ever want to see anything “serious.” 🧡✌🏼🧡
