“Radical self-reliance is one of the principles of Burning Man" - 2023 attendee

Call me silly but at a cost of ~$5k to $10k, I'm not convinced how "radical" their self reliance is?

Honest question. Y'all remember that before #Google bought #YouTube it was ad free. I get that there are some capacity (maintenance and growth) issues that may justify some form of ads on YouTube, but this shit is getting out of hand.

What exactly are the #ads on YouTube doing that's improving the product?

Seriously, it seems to me YouTube is primarily using content they aren't paying for to generate ad revenue for Alphabet. Ergo stealing.

A couple days ago, someone sent me a message via my website and asked if I had explored Lyapunov Fractals. Intrigued, I quickly cobbled together some prototype code based on the Wikipedia article and made this test image, but when I tried to reply, that person's email came back undeliverable. So to whoever it was that contacted me, thanks for the inspiration and another math-art idea I'll need to explore in much more detail.

Reznikov will be replaced by Rustem Umerov.

Umerov, a Crimean Tatar, was previously serving as a deputy head of the permanent delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and co-chair of the Crimea Platform.

For more on what happened in Tel Aviv this weekend and threats by Netanyahu to deport Eritreans in Israel, here's written coverage by the BBC, although it lacks depth on the Eritrean political divisions and Eritrean state infiltration of expat/diaspora communities, the trigger for the chaos.

This seems interesting, and slime molds are such a fun model system. The authors use slime molds to look at the evolutionary effects of “cheating” strains and cheating-resistant strains. @elizostrow
