Actual bird story:

I used to birdsit for a neighbor. Koko the cockatoo's previous owner hadn't spoken to her much, so she didn't say much besides "Hi Koko!"

I'd never had a parrot, but I figured out how she liked to be petted. I'd stroke her and say "Good bird, good bird." I said it enough that one day she wanted pets and insistently said, "Good bird!"

I was so surprised! I'd forgotten she was a kind of parrot. But she got very bossy with "good bird."
