Israeli staff at their liaison office in Rabat, Morocco were told to leave, the office has been closed and staff have been repatriated.

I hope every Muslim country in the world who host such people does exactly the same.

I added wheels to my 3-D printer, which means that I now basically have functionally the same thing as the mobile construction vehicle from #commandandconquer

I joined the efforts to address the #ClimateCrisis because I oppose war. Once I realize that you can't move Iowa soil a few hundred miles north, I realized that #ClimateChange will lead to food shortages (and water shortages), which would lead to mass migrations and wars.

It turns out that what we in the US are experiencing first are increases in destructive weather events. (It took me a while to realize that this would happen before the wars.) Dr. Katharine Hayhoe points out that in the 1980s, the US experienced billion+ dollar extreme weather events about one every 17 weeks. Nowadays there's one every 3 weeks and
Yale Climate Communication’s latest poll shows this is American's #1 concern when it comes to climate impacts. See climatecommunication.yale.edu/

So, before we get to the wars, would you please join me in our efforts to address the #ClimateCrisis? Join ThirdAct.Org or 350.org or The Sunrise Movement or @ExtinctionR

Russian terrorists are able to launch missiles, drones and fighter-bombers from Russian Federation territory and remain untouched by weapons produced outside Ukraine.

Helped by this insane condition imposed on the defenders, the terrorists are attacking civilians again tonight.

This was during what can only be described as a period of "irrational exuberance", to use Alan Greenspan's phrase, for #broadcasting industry consolidation in the US, subsequent to the passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which eliminated most formal restrictions on how many stations one company could own. Many of these deals were as much real-estate plays as anything, and getting to those historic sites before they were sold and demolished was a continuing theme of our travels.

Between 1995 and about 2010, Scott Fybush and I drove all around the US (and parts of Canada and a little bit of Mexico) visiting #radio and #television #studio and #transmitter sites. It was fun, albeit rather too many long days of driving, and I got to see 45 of 50 states and 5 of 10 provinces. We got to meet a lot of insiders, many engineers, numerous on-air personalities, and a number of senior managers and station owners.

It was clear to me, though, that something was wrong. I remember discussing with industry veterans that we met, in the early 2000s, that no one I knew under the age of 30 listened to the #radio -- certainly not commercial radio -- and if the industry didn't figure out a way to fix that, there was no way they could possibly service all the debt they were taking on to fund those acquisitions. Television wasn't quite there yet: streaming wasn't practical over 56k dialup or 128k IDSL.

Okay, this is interesting. Much 👀 dopamine.

Left is allegedly at 54 years old. Right is allegedly at 74 years old.

Dispatch from the War on Christmas, 2023

Unfortunately, hostilities have reignited.
The forces of Christmas continue to illegally encroach territory that doesn't belong to them:
Love Actually was on TV last night. Promotions featuring Santa Claus have already been observed, online and in catalogues.
It is barely past mid-october. Poor Halloween hasn't even had a chance. The invasion of November was bad enough.

We reiterate: if Christmas can't respect it's December borders, we WILL fight back.
