OK, how about something light in the midst of the difficult #Iceland news? A burglar alarm has been going off repeatedly at a shelter where 53 sought refuge. RÚV reports a resolution:

"The siren is silenced, which kept awake people for 40 minutes during the twelfth time. It managed to turn off...by simply tearing the system off. Therefore, there is no burglary system at present... It is not yet known what was on the system, but it will be fixed... The combustion system is fine."

House Republicans unveil plan to avoid government shutdown: a two-tiered stopgap spending bill. Some agencies & programs until Jan 19th, others until Feb 2nd.

“This two-step continuing resolution is a necessary bill to place House Republicans in the best position to fight for conservative victories,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Please tell me House Democrats are going to call him on openly using the federal budget process for partisan campaign purposes, and then refuse to go along with it?

A donated 1541 with nice VIC colors. It does work but the fuse holder is broken and there’s a scorch mark next to it. Might replace it with modernish power supply after I thoroughly clean it. Cool to have a long board variant.

TIL about the paradox of being one's own grandfather. Here is a letter from a man attempting to avoid going to war. This man was exempt from mandatory military service because of disturbing family climate. Also, the law prohibits the father, son and grandson from being called at the same time.

An absolutely terrible shot of some Lady is the best I can do today. The #butterflies were just not out except at the very top of Elfin Forest overlook. Those were ladies, with a possible Red Admiral but they just wouldn’t settle down.

Knock knock.

Who’s there?

Little old lady.

Little old lady who?

I didn’t know you could yodel!

I hate to inform you, but I’ve panicked at a lot more places than just the disco.
