So much for the rewards for effort bollocks;

Last year (according to research by UBS - a Swiss bank), #Billionaires gained more through #inheritance than via #entrepreneurship ($151bn inherited/$141bn 'earned')

and that's just the start, as UBS Head of Wealth Management points out; this will continue 'over the next 20 to 30 years, as more than 1,000 billionaires pass an estimated $5.2tn to their children'!

When you cut away the reward for #innovation, this is just a new form of #feudalism!

30 Billion Trees.

Thirty Billion Trees, across five time zones, 180,000 square kilometers. Burn into the soil dead ash. Old Growth.

30 Billion Trees Burned, by Canadian Climate Policy. Canada sells, Canada increases the export speed of oil by spending 25 billion dollars on BIG PIPES to carry more OIL into Vancouver Harbour Oil Tankers.

Vote buying disbursements sure suck.

Trudeau spent 25 billion to expand Oil Export and the Burning of Canada's Forests

@ai6yr One thing I've always thought was weird about this issue: wouldn't reducing oil demand lower the price? Efficiency rules and a cap and trade system, with decreasing caps, would force companies to use less oil and make consumers use less, which should make the price go down. Tho I suspect that, because a lot of oil production is part of a monopoly, they would manipulate supply in retaliation.

@ai6yr On a related note, the Saudis and other OPEC countries prefer a GOP administration, so they will cut production to increase the price of oil next fall. Mark it.

1. To keep the climate from spiraling out of control, we need to stop using fossil fuels ASAP
2. However, to stay in power, politicians need to keep energy/gasoline prices low, otherwise they will lose elections.
3. To keep energy/gasoline prices low, politicians need to bolster fossil fuels production.
4. If politicians do not do #3, they will be taken out of power
5. Therefore, when politicians are asked to address #1, #2 kicks in, which spurs #3, which increases the urgency of #1.

Today in 1981, 42 years ago: in Geneva (Switzerland), representatives of the United States and the Soviet Union begin to negotiate the reduction of medium-range nuclear weapons in Europe, within the framework of the Cold War. On December 17, negotiations were suspended unfinished.
