As of iOS 17.4, iPhone users in the EU can choose a default browser, details from MacRumors:

Apple said iPhone users in the EU will be presented with a list of the 12 most popular web browsers from their country's local App Store at the time

Take away: a lot of browsers will be competing for App Store installs.

re: the Flipper Zero, I never thought I'd say this but Canada should consider taking a leaf (hehe) out of England's book when it comes to criminal legislation.

we have minor offense called "going equipped for theft". essentially if you get stopped and search 'cos they think you're on the way to steal a car or break into somewhere, and you're found to have any of the typical tools of the trade (screwdriver, centerpunch, etc.) they can arrest you for it and keep you off the street for 24h.

Senthil Nayagam, founder of Muonium, the AI media tech firm that made the deepfake Karunanidhi video, told Al Jazeera that “there is a market opening up [for such deepfakes]…. You can attribute some statements to a particular person and that kind of gives more value to it”.

AI Karunanidhi’s first public appearance was at a local media event last year in September, which was followed up by another for a campaign by his party members. The resurrected leader often felicitates party workers and specifically praises the leadership of his son MK Stalin — with the aim of boosting his popularity."

Anybody aware of a database on people killed in #palestine over time since October 7th?

I can find a lot of news on different days but no good overview (B'tselem's database stopped counting on Oct 6th. The best I've found is on Wikipedia but undocumented sources. Trying to provide a documented source that people can assess the reliability of themselves.
