Hey duckduckfedi, do you have any blog recommendations for in-depth homelab / self-hosting topics?
I am not looking for entry level "how to install xy" posts, but for thought out setups and ideas to steal from get inspired by for my own setup. ​​

On my current search about mostly hands-free NixOS deployment, update and monitoring strategies I've mostly come across slop and cookie cutter guides, which have been rather worthless, but I am sure there are blogs out there with great content that are just drowned out by the slop ​​

A couple days ago I learned about a needle craft called yubinuki, which translates directly from Japanese as finger piercer, or more generally a thimble. This one is made from thread, fabric, and cardboard in the shape of a finger ring. Ever since I learned these exist, I couldn’t stop thinking about making one. So guess what was I doing last night at 1AM.

Did I need a new hobby? No.
Did I buy any materials to make this? Also no.

Is it perfect? Definitely not, but I enjoyed the process and I definitely might make another one again in the future, although for the next one I’d probably start with some plastic film rather than cardboard. I’d probably also pay more attention to the stitching pattern. This pattern was just improvised as I stitched. #sewing #weaving #mathart
