Thirsty?

Northern Cardinals (Cardinalis cardinalis) must have had a successful breeding season, because I see about a dozen of these birds at a time in my backyard when it is still relatively cool in the mornings. This is a young female at my bird bath getting a drink of water.

TIL that Russ Gremel turned $1,000 into $2 million by buying $1,000 worth of Walgreens stock in the 1940s. He figured people would always need medicine and women would always buy makeup.

TO ANYONE USING #AWS:

"The update will come into effect on February 1, 2024, when AWS customers will see a charge of $0.005 (half a cent) per IP address per hour for all public IPv4 addresses."

Add $43.80 per IPv4 address per year (starting price, and it will likely go up, as we're all out of IPv4 addresses and have been for some time).

It's one way to encourage IPv6 uptake. All stick. No carrot.

BBC experiments with Mastodon, a Twitter rival that lets users control their own data and communities. The server hosts BBC feeds, but no user accounts or posts. BBC values Mastodon’s public service ethos over profit-driven networks. Mastodon rocks, more media should join!

Remember decades ago when we used to refer to Microsoft as The Evil Empire? Those were good times.

Now we have so many tech companies that are so much worse.
