I lived near an elderly gent who would still insist on mowing his lawn with a hand sickle. Thought reel-type pushmowers were unnecessary, nevermind the gas-powered ones.
1920s/30s famous sweethearts were still famous. I'm talking about Jeannette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy...although matinee idol Nelson Eddy was pretty damn good with Rise Stephens, as was Jeannette MacDondald with tenor Alan Jones...
there was a Gong Show predecessor, but it was called Ted Mack Amateur Hour and when talking heads talk about political organizations to call 'em "amateur hour", I always think of Ted...but now you know where that expression comes from.
Yeah, showers weren't a thing but doing the Victorian style daily wash-up before bed was the deal, until Saturday. You bathed before going to church on Sunday.
Saturdays were for baths, which one took once a week. And besides Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, there was the Cisco Kid and the Lone Ranger.
