Since 1953-54, at Anchorage airport there have been 32 storms that produced 12 inches (30cm) or more of snow in two days or less. That's an average of less than one every two years. But…there have now been 4 such storms in the past 20 months:
March 5, 2022: 12.2" (31cm)
Dec 5-6, 2022: 12.2" (31cm)
Dec 11-12, 2023: 16.2" (41cm)
Nov 8-9, 2023: 17.2" (44cm)

No, it's not global cooling: 3 out of 4 of these storms occurred with daily average temp above the 1991-2020 normal. #akwx

Google Reader is dying. Long live RSS

I read the news yesterday that Google will sunset Google Reader in July, among other services. I am not a user of that particular service, but I'm a user of syndication. I find it useful, therefore I care for it. Among the several pieces I read on the topic, and judging by the reactions from peeps I follow on Twitter, it appears people care for syndication, and I take comfort in it.
