Elon Musk has started an electric-vehicle price war that Tesla can't finish.
Under increasing pressure from new competition, Tesla spent the past year slashing the average price of its models by roughly 25%. The Model 3 fell from $48,000 to $44,380. The luxury Model S, meanwhile, plunged from a high of $130,000 to $96,380. The cars, as they say, have been priced to move.

I saw this post doing rounds and it's got me thinking about copyright books where a similar situation can apply.

If a #book is out of print, so the only copies left are second hand (and are often hard to come by) then why should we have to wait 70 years from the author's death for it to come out of #copyright?

If the author's heirs don't think there's money to be made in keeping it in print then who is benefiting from stopping the text being put out as a free #ebook

I just got back from walking the Milford track, which is amazing. This is one of New Zealand's great walks which i think of as amazing, but touristy. One tidbit i hadn't realized is that the track was originally set up for guided tours. It wasn't possible to walk on your own until the 1960's when a club of trampers forced the issue and planned a walk without permission. Here is to 1960's trampers.
