Threads might be a chance to connect to non-tech-savvy mainstream normies. I was angry at Facebook blocking any attempt to federate but now that they say they will I see it as a chance. Other ways of preventing access to sensitive instance data might be possible. A kind of cautious sandbox federation mode for example...

TIL about the Braunschweig meteorite, a 1.3kg meteorite that hit a concrete path in Germany, leaving a 3cm deep/7cm wide crater, presumably the smallest impact crater we know of.
