#TIL that #Judaism, #Islam and #Christianity are not the only large religions in the #Levant. Turns out there’s a major unitarian monotheistic church called the #Druze in #Lebanon and elsewhere that’s as old as any of them. Mixes elements of Isma'ili Shia, Christianity, Buddhism and Hindu to name a few. If I weren’t an Atheist I might give it a try!

The American Medical Association has since the early 1900s taken a stance against single-payer healthcare in the US. This stance flies in the face of their patients' well-being, with medical bills consistently ranking in the top 2 reasons for personal bankruptcy in the US.

Now, the monster they created may be turning its wrath on them.

The Healthcare Justice Coalition, an organization that works to ensure that emergency physicians are not underpaid or unpaid by health insurance companies, filed a lawsuit against UnitedHealth Group "alleging that a group of physicians was either unpaid or significantly underpaid for emergency services."

“Systemic underpayments by health plans of the kind that physicians have experienced threaten the stability of America’s health care system by forcing emergency physician groups into bankruptcy and shuttering emergency departments,” the complaint said.

With healthcare insurers bankrupting both physicians AND patients, maybe now would be a good time to implement single-payer healthcare in the US, ya think?
