Hamas has released an official statement about the events of October 7. Ultimately this is political pr in the same way any other government organization releasing a statement is pr, but it is interesting to hear from the group themselves after months of media circus. The pdf is linked for anyone who may be curious about their take on the events.

"Why did Doug Ford's government defeat a bill on sexual harassment?"

Any guesses?

> A bill that would allow local politicians found guilty of harassment to be kicked out of office now has the support of more than 200 municipalities.

All we need to do is re-elect #Biden by a landslide, regain the House, get a Senate super-majority, refuse to seat any incumbent or incoming congress or senate member that engaged in insurrection or supported insurrectionists, enforce same on the states, pack the #SCOTUS, reaffirm the Voter Rights and Civil Rights Acts, codify #Roe, pass the George Floyd Justice Act, pass #MedicareForAll, pass a #WealthTax, and hold all that for 8-12 years and this #MAGA nonsense should die out.

Part of me wants to be optimistic about the future and at the same time I can't get rid of thinking that I want to go to Baltics this Summer one more time before the war.

Things I've learned about #gardening:
1. Perennial doesn't mean a plant lives forever. Short-lived ones like Spotted bee balm and Lance-leaved coreopsis live for 3 years.
2. If you pull a weed, plant something good in its place. Otherwise it will return. Stuff #NativePlant seedlings in those areas.
3. Sowing seeds outside in winter is a cheap way to get tons of native plants.
4. New England Aster, Canada goldenrod, Common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) spread too aggressively for a small space.

The creators of Jungle Book were hoping that The Beatles would also voice the characters of the 4 vultures and sing their song, "That's What Friends Are For".
The idea was turned down after John Lennon didn’t want to participate.

Louis Armstrong was initially considered for the role of King Louie, but the idea was discarded as "politically terrible."

Given how much of my life is spent in fairly close proximity to UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems and electric conditioning equipment, I knew that, statistically, this was probably going to happen one day.

But today is the first time I've seen a UPS catch fire. Twenty month-old Back-UPS unit from APC.

And, of course, it did it in a recording studio, during a session, and a particularly good take.
