Former Republican Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney scorched former colleague Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., on Saturday for deleting her statement calling for Jan. 6 Capitol rioters to be arrested.
Cheney had shared the now-dead link to Stefanik's statement following the 2021 insurrection calling for those who stormed the Capitol to be "prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
This is "truly a tragic day for America," Stefanik posted the day of the riot.
Israeli settlers have found a new way to abuse Palestinian shepherds: Bankrupting them
This week police impounded 700 sheep, claiming they had passed through a forbidden zone. To retrieve the animals the shepherds paid 150,000 shekels ($40,000) to the settlers' regional council #israel #palestine https://kbin.social/m/worldnews@lemmy.ml/t/793916
A law requiring AI generated images and videos to have a watermark won’t be effective in stopping bad actors as people will just use Open Source tools even if all the corporate ones add these.
I find the idea of cameras cryptographically signing photos & videos more tractable.
I’d argue images saying “This is a real picture” will help fight disinformation better than saying “This is an AI generated picture” since not all AI generated ones will indicate that they are.
It seems that the turret has been unstowed, which may mean that the team will try again to fix the problem, with #Perseverance stationary there for several sols.

It’s wild looking back at file share with hindsight. In the 80s and 90s, record labels poured champagne off of looted artist royalties.
When #Napster hit, those same labels shed crocodile tears. They promised that artist would get their fair due if only we could kill file sharing.
Now that everything is locked behind DRM, artists are getting screwed more now than ever, and distributors are yanking our purchased digital assets ... https://micro.fromjason.xyz/2024/01/27/its-wild-looking.html

This morning's walk in #VealeGardens #Adelaide :)
Nice sunny morning with a tiny bit of chill in the air, just perfect!
Took the time to wander and take some shots of the little things, some tiny flowers along the route.

The history of cinema is a fascinating subject. The earliest films were in black and white, under a minute long, without recorded sound, and consisted of a single shot from a steady camera. The first decade saw film move from a novelty to an established mass entertainment industry, with film production companies and studios established worldwide. https://www.reddit.com/user/tonynetone1/comments/1aclnxa/the_history_of_cinema_is_a_fascinating_subject/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
