Something big is happening in Mastodon over the weekend. Here is my graph, updated. Right now Mastodon is growing ~3 times faster than Twitter.

For context, this is one of my favorite climate graphs, showing 800,000 years of atmospheric CO2, including the massive run-up over the past century. We're now around 420 parts per million (ppm), more than anytime in 800,000 years (actually more than anytime in the past 5 million years) and completely outside the natural ups and downs in the record. This is the driver of the current #climate crisis.

First, I explain what it means that Kash Patel was given limited use immunity for his appearance before the grand jury in Trump's stolen document case..

Use immunity is solid immunity for anything Patel says truthfully, but it is not blanket immunity from prosecution.

It immunizes him for his statements to the Grand jury,, which means he can’t take the 5th because he is not being compelled to be a witness against himself.

The term “tipping point” gets used a lot in climate discourse, sometimes to considerable confusion. As we discussed in a 2016 review (https://doi.org/10.1002/2016EF000362), the term entered the research literature in mid-20th century, from various social science disciplines studying neighborhood segregation. Tipping points mark the onset of rapid shifts in system states, driven by positive feedbacks (ie virtuous/vicious cycles) in the system.
