As it seems the birdsite is pushing yet more folks away, time for another #introduction post!

Hi I'm Kevin, a #puppet #builder by trade and maker of fun online media. I do #livestream builds, run my own shop(s) and love it here on #mastodon. Small sample of my work.

And here's number 3, shifting the trail length up and down between the full cycle and none, with animated colors also timestepped. There's a lot of stuff going on here. This scribble, it be technical.

- A Shelby County commissioner told FOX13 on Friday that state leaders in Nashville are threatening to take away funding from Memphis and other Shelby County projects if the county commission decides to reinstate expelled state Rep. Justin J. Pearson. https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/memphis-could-lose-funding-for-major-projects-if-pearson-appointed-back-to-seat-commissioner-says/article_a314c216-d582-11ed-9766-8f4212e502ec.html

billie holiday: an #art #history thread
in 1939, billie holiday - who was born eleanora fagan on this day in 1915 - kickstarted the civil rights movement with the release of her recording of 'strange fruit' - &, if she hadn’t persisted, it may not have been released until much later. columbia refused, at first (‘they won’t buy it in the south’), to let billie include it even though she’d made the song a central & permanent part of her repertoire during her tenure at cafe society.

Notice how when Republicans do crazy shit like "expel members of the Tennessee legislature for protesting school shootings" there's no hand wringing in the media about how this will change norms and open the GOP up to retaliation from the Dems the same way there is with Trump being prosecuted.

Please stop laughing at CatGPT. Please stop sharing this picture. It's not funny. This is a slippery slope. It might only meow for now, but what's next? What will our cats do if CatGPT takes their jobs? Do we really want artificial intelligence to sleep all day? To scoff at the $50 worth of cat food you just purchased? To knock your full glass of water over and feel zero remorse when it shatters on the floor? Call me a Luddite, but I believe we must destroy CatGPT to protect our feline friends.

As a Tennessean, I request that everyone not do business in #Tennessee. Don't give this state your tourist dollars. Don't do business here. Do not seek a job here. I love you hacker fam, but don't attend conferences here.

What is happening now is the upending of democracy in our Statehouse. Not by an armed coup, but an abuse of procedures in an attempt to excise the GOP's political enemies, and make voting irrelevant. #USpol

On today's expulsion of the two Black representatives, but not the white rep, Elie Mystal summed it up pretty darn well: "Tennessee has now given the entire country an object lesson in critical race theory better than any AP history course ever could have. Everybody sees it now. Everybody knows it now. Everybody gets exactly what is going on."

Hoping the fediverse can help out: I'm in touch with a Ukranian family in #Toronto who are trying to get their cat (named Milana, in photo) from #Kraków, #Poland to Toronto this spring. They can cover some transport costs but are trying to connect with someone already making the trip. Email milana at hypatia.ca if you can help. Please boost!
