My most recent book is 'A THING OF BEAUTY: travels in mythical and modern Greece' and it's about my attempt to find a message of hope in the Greek myths.

I used to make guidebooks for a living, and still harbour a love of old maps and guides.

I'm now (meant to be) writing a book about France.
