Right now, we are faced with the easiest part of standing up to a major threat to journalism and democracy: all we have to do is *not* login to an app we all grew up without.
You can take a stand and deliver a massive blow to the extreme right by simply refraining from doing something. It’s the easiest protest you’ll ever make.
Don’t wait until standing up to those forces requires a lot more from you. *Especially* if you are a journalist. Don’t wait until the situation becomes dire.

@godlessmom I may of been on Twitter since 2007 but I dont need it. I rather lose it then lose my rights or let others lose theirs. That includes journalists.
@MaschaMoore
It's their choice. I refuse to defend any journalist or news group that crawls back to that psycho, especially since his recent tweet that referenced killing journalists.

Honestly, who would represent any of these jokers without cash up front? It’s not like this is at all unexpected.
I say this as the child of an attorney who called one of their clients “Rubberman” for bouncing checks (to my parent and others). My attorney parent would only accept bank transfers and actual cash from that guy.
Can we please refrain from all the capitalist lingo that has made it into music and the arts, and call it out when we hear it. Yesterday, I heard other artists being referred to as ”competitors”. They are not competitors, we are colleagues. We don’t compete for listeners’ time. There is not a finite pool of listeners’ time to compete about. We create each our own unique music to enrich the lives of more people. We are not competitors. We are colleagues, peers.
I don't think journalists (in general) -- and certainly not the organizations they work for -- fully understand the threat Musk represents to the future of free expression and journalism itself.
Begging him to reinstate the banned accounts is pure folly. It is bended-knee supplication to a sociopath who now controls a powerful media company. But the power of his company depends in no small degree on keeping journalists there.
Leave. Now.
"Brooklyn Bridge". I made this image with a modified Agfa Isoly I camera. The Isoly is/was a surprisingly well made cheap medium format camera. But for me, its lens was far too sharp ("sharp" being a relative term here). So I replaced the lens element with an inverted plastic meniscus lens from a Holga. Also, if you can believe what you read on the internet, the Isoly was the camera on which the legendary Diana camera was based. #filmPhotography #analogPhotography #Holga #plasticCamera
So Elon is reinstating the accounts of journos he banned last night and some of them appear relieved to be “back.” That is all fine but imho Elon’s actions crossed another line last night. It’s tragic to see some of these journos sound so “relieved” to be back there. By doing that they are bending their knees to a billionaire 🤡 drunk on power.
Elon’s actions are providing an opportunity for us to build an healthier civic online space for our democrac. Would be good for us to take it. #fediverse
"In Suspending Journalists on Twitter, Musk Flexes His Media Muscle"
um... THAT'S your takeaway from this week's career genocide against your own colleagues?! 🤦♂️
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/16/business/media/elon-musk-twitter-journalist-suspension.html
There's going to be a point in a few days when all these new Twitter refugees will experience what we have already: the sudden return of all our creativity because we're no longer constantly tense from the incessant flow of hot takes from Twitter gremlins. The TwitterTension will lift, the fog of 24/7 bitch mode will disperse, and they'll discover just how much Twitter actually affected their minds. It felt like I sobered up after 13 years of downers. Look forward to it ❤️
Deep field image from the #NASA #JWST. There's around 10 stars in the photo and the rest are distant galaxies. The redder they are, the farther away
Weirdly, the universe seems 'full' at the galactic scale and empty at the scale of stars.
On average, galaxies are ~10 galactic diameters apart, and stars are 10 million stellar diameters apart.
So here's the first-ever Post-Elon-Suspended-Me-From-Twitter-And-Made-Up-A-Story-That-I-Doxxed-Him Countdown podcast

Tried to update my Twitter profile (which already says to find me here) to be clear that I'm done posting and reading there.
Update was rejected because Musk and his minions now want you to believe mentioning and/or linking to my Mastodon account constitutes "malware".
He's panicking, which is good.
He still controls one of the most important media companies in the world, which is bad.
