Think about that. Being a school librarian is a thankless job. No one is getting rich. These are people who are devoted to books and the positive impact they can have on the lives of children.

Now, they are being threatened with felony prosecution for DOING THEIR JOBS which is to make sure the library as a diverse selection of books that appeal to students from a variety of backgrounds.

There are a lot of people you can pick on but they are picking on school librarians and accusing them of providing children with pornography because some novels have sex scenes

They're not just saying the quiet part out loud. They're screaming it into a megaphone.

How to plan a scientific project timeline

Take a sheet of paper and write out each step of the project; bonus points for using different colored pens and/or highlighting
Estimate how long you think each step will take
Triple that estimate
Put the sheet of paper on a corner of your desk
Discover sheet of paper several years from now and think "oh that's a cool idea for a project"

Been five days since Twitter suspended a bunch of journalists, including me, for tweeting out factual reporting. And we're still suspended.

CNN's @donieosullivan, NYT's Ryan Mac and I can't access Twitter until we delete specific tweets that they said included "private information" but were actually just reporting.

Journalists Linette Lopez and Susan Li, who also covered Musk, are still suspended. No explanation given.

For thousands of years, fermenting beer was considered a household task for #women.

By the Middle Ages, some sold beer at English markets. Female brewers wore tall, pointy hats to be easily spotted. They stood by cauldrons & often had cats to keep mice away.

Sound familiar? It should.

You see, when male brewers felt threatened by their success, they accused the women of witchcraft. These rumors may have led to some witch iconography we still recognize today.

The Aurora has been nice recently - cloud is the big problem when trying to get images but lovely when you get clearer skies. #aurora #auroraborealis

Haven’t managed to get out and view the Aurora this year as I always seem to be in the south of Scotland when it appears. Last year, I found a good viewing spot on the Black Isle looking north over Alness, however the weather tends to make life a bit difficult. On this night, snow squalls were blowing through and the clouds made for patchy viewing which meant a long exposure gave me the best results.
