Today is #TransDayofRemembrance when we honor and remember trans lives taken by violence. How horrifying that a deadly attack upon the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs should occur right before this solemn day.
Hate isn’t born in us. It is taught. It must end.
This starts with our political leaders, who must cease their cynical attacks against our community before another attack occurs.
Call out the hate. Remind them of its consequences. Hold them to account.

I'm glad to see more of the veneer coming off of the Supreme Court. Very little of what they do today involves good faith disagreements about jurisprudence, and they're long past the point of even a cynical realist view that jurisprudence is influenced by political outcome. There's zero consistency to any of what they do except the raw exercise of political power.
Ok everyone, it’s looking like Twitter will die or go offline sometime in the next couple of days since employees are quitting en masse.
My best and most active backup is my FB account: https://www.facebook.com/sara.anne.miller
I have @ iowacovid19tracker@med-masotodon.com as well, less active.
On the bird site, I used to retweet articles I wanted to be able to find again. I was so grateful to have access to information that I couldn't find elsewhere. At the moment, I am trying to go through and bookmark these posts for myself, just in case. As I was doing this, I ran across a Substack account with an impressive list of articles. Hope they might be helpful to some of you! https://pandemicindex.substack.com/p/what-covid-does-to-the-body
CLARIFICATION: Several COVID emergency declarations exist. This bill would end the National Emergency Declaration, but not the Public Health Emergency. So key aspects of healthcare (medicaid access, telehealth) would remain, but student debt, med supply tools, and more affected.
While the National Emergency Declaration does give the White House powers to modify healthcare access requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, telehealth etc), in practice the majority of these policies are modified under the Public Health Emergency.
TLDR; Senate voted to end National Emergency Declaration, which would restart student loan payments, affect med supply tools, & some healthcare access policies. Medicaid, telehealth, vaccines etc. unchanged for now, but this is a political step to dismantling all COVID policies.
The bill to end the National Emergency Declaration has passed the Senate, but needs to go to the House and President. Biden has said he will veto. But given his comments about the pandemic being over, it's important to take nothing for granted. Contact your reps!

COVID IS AIRBORNE! You inhale the virus through your nose and mouth. It is NOT a cold, the pandemic is NOT over. The BEST way to defend yourself is a (K)N95 mask, plus filtration and ventilation. Clean the air you breathe! Get vaccinated as your body’s last line of defense.

Let’s be clear: Donald Trump is not just "unfit to serve" as President.
He incited a violent attempted coup against our democracy.
He needs to be barred from holding ANY public office again and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
