Unfortunately I have to stop actively working on #Metatext for a while due to health issues. I really wish I could implement Mastodon 4 features and squash every bug, but it's not possible for me to do so right now.

I know the app has become important to a lot people, so I'm open to a new maintainer who can carry on its values of privacy and accessibility taking it over if there's interest and a fit. Email info@metabolist.org if you (or your organization) are interested

Feel like I’m the last generation of people who say out loud “this set of forms and information is so important I need to ponder it on a desktop monitor instead of this tiny toy phone screen”

I do like it here on Mastodon, but the huge influx of people from Twitter means there are far fewer image descriptions than from even a couple of weeks ago. I’d love to tell every one of them about this, but quite frankly there are so many I don’t have the patience. I’d dearly love it if apps could block posts unless an image description was added to every photo, but I suppose that’s too much to hope for. I’m feeling really excluded from so many conversations. It’s getting as bad as Twitter.

@joinmastodon@twitter.com 2. The primary gripe with Mastodon is that it is confusing.

But it really isn't.

It's a decentralized system, like email.

So you pick a server, just like you pick Gmail or Yahoo

But then you can communicate with anyone

You just need their address and you are good to go

It’s #FollowFriday so I hope folks utilize the hashtag to find my account here!
Give me a boost! Maybe if I can show some of the big accounts on Twitter that it’s possible to grow sizably and quickly here, too, they’ll migrate over!

I found https://movetodon.org/ today and it’s the best tool I’ve encountered yet for quickly rebuilding your Twitter following list on Mastodon, without manual imports or the like. (Thanks much @Tibor!)
