Instead of: no one wants to work anymore. Try: no one wants to be exploited anymore.

I have just learned that I have been laid off, three days before Christmas.

I have a lot of emotions right now, but instead of airing those out I'm focusing in a more positive direction. I am looking for a full-stack engineer or back-end/front-end developer position in the information security space. I am proficient in Python, JavaScript (React, Node, Express mainly) and am getting proficient in Rust. I have my GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM) certification and am comfortable in a systems engineering role with Rust or C/C++ as well.

Contract work welcome, full-time employment preferred. Appreciate the support and hope your holidays are off to a better start than mine!

#Introduction

Hi! I'm Morgan, a #Software engineer living in western #EU. I work as a lead developer, with an increasing focus on the #HumanFactors involved in making software. I'm also pursuing a #Psychology degree with the aim of becoming a better #UX #UI designer. When I write code I use #Java and #Typescript but i'd like to go back to #Ada someday.

I also love #Music (yes, all of it)! Share your favorite song with me! 🎶 I'm learning how to play #Drums and might dip my toes into #MusicProduction in the future.

I've been interested in decentralized tech like #Matrix and #IPFS for quite some time. And I still hold a tiny bit of hope that #Blockchain might yield something good eventually (but I don't have a pyramid scheme to sell you I promise).

Also I drink way too much #Tea .

Extra keywords that didn't fit nicely into the prose:

So, I'm finding out the hard way that if you start a new Mastodon server, nobody can find you.

This is a shameless request for some boosts so some of the bigger instances see me.

I have rewritten a toot 5 times trying to explain how my lack of income prevents me from enjoying Xmass fully.

But instead of giving you a sob story about my life, I want to tell you this...

If you have someone in your life who is struggling financially, just take them aside and let them know that you love them, and that you understand. Let them know that their value is in who they are, not how much they can buy.

Ask them what you can do to help them have a merry Xmass.

It'll mean a lot.

We receive over half a million HTTPS requests per day to www.bbc.co.uk with no TLS SNI hostname (& ~100k/day to www.bbc.com).

The vast majority of these look like automated testing rather than humans.

If you run one of these (or know someone who does), please consider updating your software to something which supports TLS SNI (or deleting the test) because we may remove support for client which don't support TLS SNI which means your tests will break.

Boosts/shares would be much appreciated 🙌🏻

You’re not supposed to put a Qtip all the way into your ear because that’s where the reset button is

Important point:
Bail reform doesn't "Release dangerous criminals onto the streets."

Bail is supposedly designed to make sure people show up to court on that date in the future.

There is a completely different dimension on "risk to the public." Whether there is bail or not, a judge can decide whether or not a defendant should be in pre-trial detention or not.

If there's strong evidence of community danger, witness tampering, etc, judges can require pretrial detention.

All jokes aside, remember what Christmas is really about, people.

Rich people being terrorized by spectres until they agree to pay their employees a living wage.

Auschwitz is a place that shows where hatred, #antisemitism and contempt for a fellow man led people decades ago.

It is also a place where we should reflect on our own responsibility for the world we live in. The warnings of the past should be a key to better future.

In 1962, a General Electric engineer named Nick Holonyak developed the first LED bulb capable of emitting visible red light. The bulb was used in the 1964 stop animation animated TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for Rudolph’s glowing nose.

Google is unique among its peers in making it nearly impossible to find which sites and apps make money from its display ads network. So we @ProPublica wrote code to take an X-Ray to it.

Here's what we found: https://www.propublica.org/article/google-display-ads-piracy-porn-fraud

I’ve written about of a lot of weird folks in the GOP, but this guy may have set a new bar. Meet soon-to-be Rep. “George Santos.” I feel I have to put the name in quotes, because who knows what’s true with this guy.
