I have a couple of invites to the Arc browser. Does anyone want to receive it :)?

Happy 97th birthday on January 17 to my wonderful Dad, Newton Minow. He was FCC Chair from 61-63, where he called on broadcasters to do better, inspiring Sherwood Schwartz to name the sinking ship on Gilligan's Island after him as an insult (they later had a very cordial exchange of letters). He co-created PBS and the Presidential Debates, got the original funding for Sesame Street, hired Barack Obama as a summer intern and assigned Michelle Robinson to be his supervisor. He and Mom ran into them at "Do the Right Thing" on their first date. He's the world's best dad and Grandpa and we are so lucky.

I made this for a discussion about students using ChatGPT to snow teachers who are assigned way too many students in the first place to know if they're actually learning or not. Feels like it will be relevant for many things forever.

Since on Mastodon there's a higher chance of non-followers seeing this, I might as well do an #introduction :)

Hi, I'm Arturo, I tinker with #electronics, #pcb, #kicad, #firmware, #opensource, #openhardware

I'm the founder of a company named Solder Party, if you're in the electronics community, you might've seen my stuff. Everything I release is open source, SW and HW.

I'm happy to share that we're gearing up to support Mastodon in @buffer *very* soon! 🎉

I'm keen to be thoughtful about how we support Mastodon through the product and as a company: this is a very special community and technology. So we'll also be all ears as we introduce Buffer support.

We're looking for Buffer users (can be a brand new user, too!) to help us with early testing of our Mastodon support, so if you want to try it, reply here!

Philly Mastodon, I need your help!

We've been fostering this extremely cool cat named Minnie for 6 weeks. She is sweet, playful, energetic and snuggly but gets skittish at the pet store and has had no luck getting adopted.

Not sure how she does with other pets but she's good with kids and extremely fun. Like, seriously one of the most fun cats I've ever met.

Do you want to come meet her? Do you know anyone who does?

Please boost! Minnie needs a home! #cats #pets #catsofmastodon #phillycats

Joel Spolsky (@spolsky) is working on Block Protocol, a new way of combining blocks of web functionality. Reminiscent of Apple's project of long ago, which never caught on (and the name of which I cannot remember). Block Protocol looks intensely cool. I'll be reading up on it over the next little while, and seeing if I can make an Elm block.

I went to the Adventure Aquarium today over in Camden and saw a Mata-Mata Turtle. It legit looked like it was straight out of a Kaiju movie. Its back had vertical moss spots that looked like tiny little pine trees growing on a hillside. I could imagine it being hundreds of feet wide and happily nestled into a series of mountains.

Third-party apps had such a huge impact in early Twitter. From hashtags to retweets to @‘ing someone, much of what came to be the Twitter experience started in third-party apps.

My faves:

Spaz by @funkatron was an Adobe Air app and my first desktop Twitter app.

Twitterific by @chockenberry and other great Iconfactory folks. Twitterific eventually became my default Twitter app on iOS and desktop.

#StarTrek Riker manoeuvre by difficulty

My son had his Microsoft account stolen. Someone bet him a Minecraft rank on a duel, loser buys the winner a rank. The dude lost to my son, then asked for his email to gift the rank. Next thing he knows, his account gets locked out. Email/pass are different.

I've submitted Acct Recovery (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2209517) but that could take up to 24h to get a response. Kiddo is devastated. Anyone have any other advice?

Family/child account, but can't force email/password changes (lame!). Boost please!🙏🏻
