So I know folks are gearing down for year-end and holidays, but my long-time friend @funkatron found out his job is going away early next year. He’s looking for a US time-zone-friendly, 100% remote, full-time development role. Python + VueJS is in his wheelhouse but he can work with PHP, C# and other JS stuff.

For the love of my thumbs and fingers and time. Please please just stop making me pick a profile when I open your streaming service on my TV or my phone or my tablet. Or give me an option to just open the last profile that was open. Seriously. Why? No same UX person would do this. Some dumbass media exec did this didn't they?

1. Welcome!

2. There is a learning curve here, but most people find it short and not very steep. Play around, explore. You'll get it.

3. Lots of people are willing to help.

4. Yes, it's different than Twitter. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes not. But you'll figure it out.

5. With surges especially, things sometimes get slow/glitchy, but they usually get fixed pretty quick.

Be patient.

Honestly, the gov should run their own, official, Mastodon instances.

That way you knew it was legit, if it was from mast.whitehouse.gov or something like that.

It's time for the US Federal government to exit Twitter. It cannot publish on a censorship/disinformation channel.

Relying exclusively on the Fed to raise interest rates puts most of the burden of fighting inflation on lower-wage workers.

As the economy cools, working people will be first to be fired.
