In a huge victory for civil liberties, a district court judge in New York ruled that a warrant is required for a cell phone search at the border. eff.org/deeplinks/2023/05/fede

I'm sorry if you're of the generation that's never used a dot-matrix printer. I still remember mine from the 80s and 90s, and they were dope AF:

- Made cool sounds when printing

- Paper as a perforated form-feed, and tearing the perforations after printing was *so* satisfying

- You could re-ink your own ribbons with whatever ink you had at hand

- Manufacturer wasn't trying to screw you at every possible term

- Software focused on birthdays cards and banners, not "business" or "out of cyan"

It's okay to resist capitalism on an iPhone. The feudal lord who owned the pitchforks the peasants killed him with probably observed the irony too.

Question: What's CAA?

Answer: CAA is a type of DNS record that allows site owners to specify which CA's are allowed to issue certificates containing their domain names. It's crucial for managing the risk of external bugs from a CA's validation process.

PSA: lifetime America the Beautiful National Parks and Land passes are available for FREE to disabled citizens or permanent residents with a “permanent disability”.

While there are some hoops to jump through applying online, I inquired about it at a gate and they accepted my self-attestation.

All the parks rangers I have met have been extremely affirming and eager to share the most accessible, wonderful areas with me. Ymmv of course, but this is a win for disabled folks I wanna hype up.

I was just out doing the family shopping at a crowded grocery store, almost nobody wearing a mask.

Hey y'all. Just putting it out there to the universe: I was part of last week's latest tech purge. Sigh. Alas. Keeping eyes out for Instructional Designer/Trainer positions. Based in Austin. (Not in the way kids say based, I just mean I live here.) :blobcatsad:

Going to try this place one more time. It was a bit hard to find community and other journalists of color the last go.

Poll: Are you a macOS, MS-Windows or Linux or *BSD user? Please boost for reach. TIA.

One of the supposed “advantages” of async work has been that you can start working on something without needing others to be available.
Reasonable leverage point, but wrong direction.

Being able to start the work without others (that are needed in the process) means that the cost of starting new work goes to zero.

That tilts the system towards a higher arrival rate – the amount of work being pulled into the system of work – and that means the work in process and inventory shoots up.
