In the meantime, any folks involved in FOSS communities open to an interview? I want to explore more about the human side of FOSS communities, and intend on publishing interviews to a new blog project I'm starting (Fosset).
I come from a tech, compsci, FOSS, and journalism background, so no matter what your involvement in FOSS, you're in good hands :)
Audio/video preferred, email/text works as an alternative.
i suppose this is how it's going to go:
1. google chrome bans ad blockers
2. users move to other browsers to surf the web
3. google, youtube, and a ton of
other sites that depend on ad revenue dongle themselves to google chrome (and/or any browser that blocks ads)
4. community browsers spoof google chrome but block ads
6. websites try to detect fake chrome browsers
7. *tom & jerry chase sequence*
8. google becomes a huge fan of the idea of running only "trusted" apps on PC's
Frankly, I don't care if the "Big Names" of social media bypass Mastodon. What I care about are the poets, sports fans, community activists, academics, nerds, geeks, anime fans, old movie buffs, music fans, philosophers, environmentalists, photographers, bloggers, cat people, dog people, hosers, bloggers, sci-fi freaks, astronomers, biologists, and the marginalized souls that can't find a haven anywhere else. I want authentic egagement with real people.
280 million e-bikes are slashing oil demand far more than electric vehicles
E-bikes and scooters displace 4x as much demand for oil as all of the EVs in the world.
Great time this morning talking about the big product news of the week - the Lucid Gravity debut - but besides cars, we also talked about some nerdy charging news that could really alter the DC charging landscape over the next few years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP65G7youDQ
Can I get some boosting for employment? I am an accomplished developer. I am most familiar with Python, although I have probably programmed in more languages than most developers are exposed to these days. I totally suck at the google-based interviews asking me to solve some abstract problem in less than an hour (okay, I admit it, I am a slow programmer.. I prefer to use the term "careful.”) - Any help is appreciated in this job market. https://www.linkedin.com/in/scanner/

We also believe it is imperative to build alternatives to the current tech ecosystem & its reliance on surveillance. And building these alternatives requires understanding the political economy of the industry, so we don’t mistake an elegant idea for a realistic possibility.
If you rely on Signal, if you believe in what we’re doing, or if you want to support tech done differently, please donate to support our work.
Signal is a nonprofit. But what does this mean in practice? Today we do something most tech co’s avoid: talk money. What does it cost for Signal to play in a lane dominated by billion $ corporations, while rejecting the surveillance business model?
Hello! A brief pause from erratic Wayland.social shenanigans.
I, venerable admin, am on the hunt for a job. My interests lie in FOSS; SWE, web development, journalism, technical writing, and developer relations are all up my alley.
If you happen to be hiring or are looking for a contractor in these spaces, I'd love to chat.
And if not, boosts are always appreciated.

I am looking for like-minded people in the fediverse for sharing thoghts, projects and information about woodworking, woodcarving and especially spoon carving. How can I find these people?
Are there any existing groups or servers with these topics?
Retoots / Boosts are appreciated!

I know the odds are low, but the fediverse has come through for me in amazing and unexpected ways before.
For those who don't know me, I'm a 29-year-old support engineer and FOSS enthusiast, who is currently in kidney failure.
If you live in North Carolina or can travel to Duke Hospital, and would be willing to consider donating your kidney, please call 1-800-249-5864 and let them know you want to inquire about donating to Timothy Dyer (my legal name).
Thank you! (Boosts appreciated)
