You can use an app to track how much energy it’s using. Here is a bad graph it provides for the previous week. 16Kwh for the week total, averaging between 2 and 3 KWh per day. I’m paying about $0.14 per KWh, so, $2.24 for the electricity to heat all my hot water for a week, about $10 per month.
You can get a sense of how the compressor sounds in this short video. It’s kind of like a slightly quieter version of a typical window air conditioner. https://youtube.com/shorts/TDrSZQEuBoc?feature=share
I finally have the new hybrid heat-pump water heater installed! It’s a bit taller than the gas model it replaced - the compressor sits above the tank. When the compressor is running (heating the water) cold air comes out of the round vent area towards the top, about the temp you would get from an air conditioner.
It would be incredible to reach 100,000 followers of the Memorial here at Mastodon this year.
Don't you think?
@auschwitzmuseum From my privileged position (a lucky place however hard I may have worked) I see this image on this day and instinctually reject it, the way it encroaches for a few seconds on my perfect little life… and then it reminds me that none of this I have is a given right (by god or whoever floats your boat), but a circumstantial blessing of time and place, and sadly I feel only more thankful for what I have. Never forget
I just realized I haven't done an #introduction toot, so here 'tis. I create online training courses independently and for LinkedIn Learning, mostly on #tableau and #microsoft #excel, and do a bit of writing and #keynote #speaking as well.
I also dabble in #boardgames and #wargames, especially as applied to business strategy, and have been a professional #improv performer since 1993. Other performing interests include #magic and #mentalism, especially as they intersect with #law and #rhetoric.
As Christmas present this year I would love to have somebody who knows about stochastic calculus/statphys to answer a pair of questions about noise interpretations in conserved systems (when a white noise field has a multiplicative term and both are *inside* of a gradient).
I have been searching in the literature for weeks and I'm stuck, please help :)
PHOTO BLOG: Earlier this month, a storm chaser from the Netherlands took a wonderful photo showing several textbook ice halos, including a 46-degree halo, a 22-degree halo with parhelion (sun dogs), and an upper tangent arc. https://www.accuweather.com/en/leisure-recreation/live-news/weather-permitting-photo-blog/933860
In my time writing about SV, it has gone from being a place of naive curiosity to where posturing is everything. And the reason we have this state of affairs is that, with extreme success, the denizens of the valley have ostracized these four phrases from their vocabulary:
I’m sorry
I don’t know
I was wrong
I need help.
Nothing is more potent than admitting I was wrong or that I don’t know. And that I need help. It all starts by actually admitting you are sorry.

Auschwitz shows where hatred, antisemitism and contempt for a fellow man led people decades ago.
It is a place where we should reflect on our individual and collective responsibility for the world we live in.
Our mission is to preserve the historical site and all remains of the German Nazi concentration & extermination camp.
We commemorate the victims & educate about this tragic part of human history.

Actually cannot believe this. After 13 years, Sony/BMG have decided to take down Rick Astley's "Never gunna give you up" due to a dispute with Youtube over ad royalties.
It's completely blocked globally. Actual end of an era.
This cartoon is the most hilarious take-down of Must I have seen.
It's long, but trust me, you want to read it.
I have just learned that I have been laid off, three days before Christmas.
I have a lot of emotions right now, but instead of airing those out I'm focusing in a more positive direction. I am looking for a full-stack engineer or back-end/front-end developer position in the information security space. I am proficient in Python, JavaScript (React, Node, Express mainly) and am getting proficient in Rust. I have my GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM) certification and am comfortable in a systems engineering role with Rust or C/C++ as well.
Contract work welcome, full-time employment preferred. Appreciate the support and hope your holidays are off to a better start than mine!
Hi! I'm Morgan, a #Software engineer living in western #EU. I work as a lead developer, with an increasing focus on the #HumanFactors involved in making software. I'm also pursuing a #Psychology degree with the aim of becoming a better #UX #UI designer. When I write code I use #Java and #Typescript but i'd like to go back to #Ada someday.
I also love #Music (yes, all of it)! Share your favorite song with me! 🎶 I'm learning how to play #Drums and might dip my toes into #MusicProduction in the future.
I've been interested in decentralized tech like #Matrix and #IPFS for quite some time. And I still hold a tiny bit of hope that #Blockchain might yield something good eventually (but I don't have a pyramid scheme to sell you I promise).
Also I drink way too much #Tea .
