President Jimmy Carter is said by his family to be in his final days. My heart goes out to his loved ones and to our nation as a whole, who will have lost a good and decent man. Let his example be a beacon of hope, and let us all exhibit the kind of selflessness, compassion, and kindness he exuded all his days.

Today I learned that my sister learned *today* that chipmunks are not just baby squirrels

Because of the free speech-violating expansion of DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay" law to 12th, I'm banned from calling myself Ms. DePaul in class, and I would rather surgically graft myself to an angry skunk than pretend to be a man just to please the fascists running Florida. Therefore, from now on, all current and former students have permission to call me by my legal first name, Monica.

Good morning. Seeing antisemitic and anti-2SLGBTQ comments on my article, someone reached out to ask, “I wonder if you will be yet another woman in politics forced to leave because of relentless threats to your personal safety and that of your loved ones?”

No, I will not be chased out.

I will advocate for the space to be safe for everyone.

SUBTITLES ARE AWESOME. I JUST LEARNED THAT DONALD DUCK SOMETIMES SHOUTS "THAT'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL!" AT THINGS THAT ANNOY HIM.

Hi! This is my #introduction post. I'm new to mastodon and currently #adhd hyperfixating on #gardening and #permaculture. I have a lot of revolving interests, though!

Welcome to Mastodon, yet again, outraged twitter users!

We all understand the implications of political leaders who avoid using their official mobile devices in favour of their personal ones. What is Doug Ford hiding from the people of Ontario?

It's been a long time since I spent a whole week stacking stone and I can tell you, my lower back is very glad that it's the weekend.

Great progress this week, and we'll be back on Monday to finish building. Excited to add a wee feature to this structure too.

This wall has lots of shims, snecks and is built in a 'random' style.

The Conservative MP for Kelowna is tweeting about how awful the carbon tax is at literally the same time Kelowna and West Kelowna are being evacuated because of wildfires exacerbated by climate change that the carbon tax would help alleviate by reducing the burning of fossil fuels that release greenhouse gases that are heating the earth and causing extreme weather conditions resulting in out-of-control wildfires.#Kelowna #KelownaFire #WestKelowna #bcpoli #cdnpoli #ClimateChange #ClimateActionNow

Of course he’s going to take away one of the only tools for stopping harassment and abuse. Nazis hate being ignored.

i never see the point in state leaders visiting natural disaster areas

they clearly have no power over the disaster itself

they will not suffer what the people have suffered, and even if they did it would not mitigate the people's suffering

bringing them in and hosting them would eat up all sorts of resources that could be better spent helping the people actually affected

it takes time away from the state leader that they could have better spent receiving and reviewing reports and ordering things to get done
