The Ford Crime Cabinet is a preview of what Pierre Poilievre would be like.
Happy as hell to see this scandal garnering national attention. It was such transparent corruption by sitting politicians.

"Ontario is at a crossroads in our politics where ethics, good judgment & integrity have been tossed out the window while #corruption, greed & dishonesty settles down at the dining table for a lavish dinner, all at our expense. This has to stop.
Every file has been tainted with, if not corruption born from a misguided political ideology, then unbelievable, mind-blowing incompetence at the highest level of the province."

Fuck, I scrolled too greedily and too deep!
The main thing that makes me curious about alternate economic systems is facts like a top 5% salary in the UK being £80k/year. Statistically that makes you 'rich', but it just.... doesn't. Rich is Lamborghinis and yachts, £80k pre-tax is maybe being able to afford a house in whichever major city you have to live for work and having a rainy day fund. I hate that we all just accept that having even moderate financial stability is having made it, when in reality homeownership and not retiring below the poverty line should be the literal bare minimum that everyone deserves.
@AnarchoNinaAnalyzes I want to thank you for using alt-text. It's made a major impact on me because here, I feel included. I feel as if people care to keep me in the conversation and alt-text gives me context if a conversation involves a picture or pictures. I'm blind. I may not always understand what people are talking about but with alt-text, its like I am meant to be a part of this Mastodon culture and it couldn't have been done without the help of sighted people and the fact that you're willing to do this for me and many of my blind friends.

"Why a multi-million $ subsidy for a parkade to an Austrian spa?
Why is this project advancing if it's not supported?
Who has a stake in this??
Why, when the Province decided to subsidize dev here, there was no fully transparent procurement process to find interested bidders?
Why weren't special investments from the Province made to ALL of the bidders?
The $ subsidy is only available to this Austrian company? Why?"
It has been an unbelievable weekend (and three weeks) in Ontario watching the current government slowly implode over the Greenbelt issue.
Like, I literally never thought it would get this weird and wild. I thought they must have tied down every loose end, they were so confident and cavalier about destroying important environmental land and letting a small number of developers make billions of dollars.
But it turns out they are corrupt AND bad at hiding it!
My partner - who is a teacher - went back to work after the summer holiday.
Their management team told them at a staff meeting that they were providing free school meals for TEACHERS suffering hardship. And a hardship fund for TEACHERS who don't earn enough money to survive.
My partner thought it was a decent thing to do. It just made me angry.
There is something beyond wrong when professional workers like teachers are unable to survive on their salaries. The answer isn't papering over the cracks and pretending this is a normal state of affairs. It's happening to so many workers, not just teachers.
Something's got to give. It will.
