@bananarama @AmishSuperModel @gordoooo_z , agreed. Which means the problem must be addressed at root causes. The 2nd is damn clear. And I agree firmly with Karl Marx when he says to never surrender weapons to the government. Unless you want a police state... what we need is red flag laws, and red flag anyone who is a credible threat. ANYONE. And stop turning a blind patriarchal/racist eye to who should be flagged. And who shouldn't. And stop blaming our situation on provable falsehoods.

@zyklop I think social stratification is a real thing. And the rich teach their kids how to be rich, while the poor teach their kids how to be poor. Doctors raise doctors, teachers raise teachers, etc. This is absolutely true. But, Musk's parents were not the richest people in the world, or even in the top 100K, and didn't have a company that sold around the world, was cutting edge tech, had industry changing impact, etc. Musk had a leg up, no doubt. But there was zero expectation he would end up where he did.

It's young conservative men. Seriously. And ya, they occasionally drive vans into crowds. Or other cars. Women don't do that either. We are focused on the wrong thing. And that we are focused wrong is blatantly obvious.
It's a healthcare issue. Mental health.

@AmishSuperModel @gordoooo_z , I disagree. If you take away guns, the root cause remains. The homicide rates won't change. The weapons will change, but I have never met anyone who said "I'm glad my child was beaten to death with a bat, instead of being shot", so I don't see this as an improvement. Nations that ban guns don't see drops in homicide rates. We need to refocus on the root cause. Even if that isn't politically correct.
The problem is disease. Mental disease, affecting young men. POTUS should order the CDC to investigate. But, this seems to be another 3rd rail of politics. It's just easier to blame guns...
@gordoooo_z @AmishSuperModel , it should be noted who does the shooting. Despite having the same access to guns, women do not commit mass murders or gun crimes. It isn't "the guns". It IS young conservative men. We seem to ignore this, I'm guessing because it isn't politically correct to make the observation. But this is real. The next mass shooter (killing strangers) will be a young white Christian male. This can't be ignored.
@AmishSuperModel @gordoooo_z , there are a surprising number of Canadians who own guns. There are a surprising number of Swiss that own sub machine guns. I think a major difference is universal healthcare systems. It may also be education, but that's a bit harder to nail down.
@gordoooo_z @AmishSuperModel , gotcha. In the USA under Reagan, we massively gutted public healthcare services, and for the most part, services are unavailable. 6-12 months would be an awesome improvement, but yes, that can be massively improved on too.

@CDunnPasadena @MarkRuffalo , as far as I know, that is the extent of the tax payer money invested. I do not think this justifies the use of eminent domain to force public use of facilities. If there is more, I would be interested in knowing about it. I would also suggest that the Tesla charging network is not as powerful as what is needed for a new EV Hummer. I suspect this reality is part of why the Tesla Cyber Truck is delayed.
@Free_Press , there is zero chance I would get within 50 miles of there for awhile. I am hoping the toxic bloom doesn't make it's way down stream, because I live downstream...
@Free_Press , It's pretty simple. He provided products and services people want. From Pay Pal to Tesla to Space X. This doesn't mean he is a great guy, or sane. Ford supported Nazis. I can't name a famous business man who loved black folks. Most of them are just bad people, but they hit on good ideas and sink their money into it.
