It is strange, yes. However, what snow did is show that the #fediverse currently has a weakness: #fediblock and other blocklists. They are run by the few and whether good intention or not they are "centralized." The concept of a democratically connected group of instances seek to add the decentralization back into to decentralized #socialmedia. This is the reason for the #twittermigration after all.

The #UFOI is certainly not the best system in the world, but the idea is great. Unfortunately, creating a good-faith system to compete with a bad-faith system is gonna be hard when the bad-faith system is incredibly popular and already notorious for ostracizing anything that disagrees with or contradicts it.

The Respect for Marriage Act, which isn’t as strong as it could be, but provides some backstop should the Supreme Court reverse its Obergfell decision that made marriage equality the law in all 50 states, passed the House today. Noteworthy: when it first came up in the House last summer, more Republicans voted for it (to the surprise of many). That gave it momentum that it didn’t have before to get through the Senate which brought it back to the House where…it got fewer GOP votes this time.

I don't know who needs to know this, but there's a huge problem inside the Judicial Security Bill snuck into the NDAA, with a huge impact on journalists, gov't accountability, & internet providers

It has both a #section230 carve out and dramatically allows for federal judges to yank a whole range of info off websites about judges that they shouldn't be able to take down.
