I didn't follow and wasn't even interested in following @elonjet on the other site, but now that it's been banned over there, I feel compelled to follow it over here.

I took a look at Elon's new advertising plans for Twitter, and how they almost certainly violate (1) FTC consent decree (2) California privacy law and (3) EU privacy law.

It's a choice!

@elonjet Heh. And as someone point out, while the ElonJet at Twitter was banned, the BezosJets account (run by the same guy) was allowed to remain. It's almost as if Elon's content moderation is perhaps less than principled.

capitalism has a huge number of exploitive systems that were around before the latest tool showed up.

I see a fair bit of people saying things like "twitter is just going to be Nazis and porn" and first of all, porn is not a moral evil so linking it to Nazis is some bullshit, and second, I don't know about the rest of you, but all I'm seeing is the Nazis.

What we share online will be removed, banned or demoted due to the #OnlineSafetyBill. Platforms will take a restrictive approach to dodge large fines. And to deal with the large volume of posts, they'll use context-blind algorithms that return false positives. #freedomofexpression

There's plenty to unpick about the #OnlineSafetyBill but the #spyclause poses a real danger to our chats with family, friends, colleagues, doctors etc. Scanning tech on private messaging is a sledgehammer that'll fracture our privacy and security.
