I NEED you to know that the most banned book in the U.S. was written by an asexual, nonbinary author and bigots are calling it grooming and pornography. twitter.com/NPR/status/1611106

Biden: We're returning these classified documents that were found in the office, as required by law.

Trump: Those classified documents that were found in my possession are MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!

In fact, I don't think there has ever been a likelihood of Trump being charged merely for possession of those documents, the likely charges would relate to obstruction, not possession per se.

"Banning books such as Gender Queer is not only a restriction of the freedom of expression, but also a harmful message to youth everywhere..."

A high school junior wrote this succinct and powerful letter to the editor about the real harm of book bans.

A recent tweet of ours in support of the trans community was mischaracterized and has been deleted to avoid confusion. Prostasia stands behind trans people in their fight for equal rights and has lobbied against transphobic laws in several states. prostasia.org/anti-trans-laws/

CORRECTION: Ao3 is blocked from being DISPLAYED ON GOOGLE, but is still accessible via direct links! The site itself is still up—it just doesn't appear in Google searches. This is still a deeply worrying development, but at least German users won't need a VPN to access the site! twitter.com/horse_disk/status/

Reality: mastodon grew from 500k active users to 1.8 million

People with an investment in twitter: mastodon has declined from 2.5 million active users in December to 1.8 million in January

Way to twist the facts to show what was an absolutely incredible amount of growth and user retention as somehow a negative, gg

Read a Reddit post seeking advice on how to deal with a spouse who becomes very angry at the sight of unmasked people. The post has stuck with me. Even at the beginning of the pandemic, before J-M was diagnosed, I was already going full hermit, mainly because I knew the sight of unmasked people would make me want to get out a six-foot baseball bat.

People like me need to isolate to keep “the vulnerable” safe, as in “vulnerable to me launching myself at them like a snarling screaming cat”.

When a fiction archivist was arrested and sentenced to 40 years imprisonment last year, the censorship of fan fiction was always going to come next. Don't say we didn't warn you.

We are at most, a few months away from apps with content and sharing mechanisms just not possible on Twitter or other centralized, closed-source platforms. That's when the momentum will really start to build for Activitypub and other protocols supporting federated networks. We have stop talking about it being a twitter "alternative" and start talking about is as an evolutionary step forward in global social networking. Because that's what it is.
