"“These laws give the state the power to harass and censor legal businesses,” said Alison Boden, Executive Director of Free Speech Coalition." https://www.ynot.com/fsc-sues-louisiana-age-verification/
Spying on students is bad enough, but using it to target marginalized students who already experience sexual violence at higher rates is especially terrible.

We're building a better tomorrow for children everywhere, but we can't do it alone. Support our work to prevent sexual violence by becoming a member for as little as $5/month and help us grow our impact.

Anyway assuming you can figure out how to post on Lemmy at all, there's a bunch of directories of /c/ communities, mostly focused around migration from specific Reddits:

I'm looking forward to seeing where Lemmy/Kbin go.
@dominoslater I think the people that complain about the "complexity" (which is bs honestly) will never come to mastodon, because they are tech-illiterate fools that didn't grow up with the "old Internet"
"If your child tells you that they have been abused, reassure them that what happened was not their fault and that they can safely talk to you as they feel comfortable. Then, work with them to figure out how you can best provide support." https://prostasia.org/services/parents/
@zackwhittaker US Department of Health? That's interesting
"What Google is doing is literally following you around with every single online activity you do, collecting that information, & using it to build a profile on you. It’s basically a surveillance machine unlike anything we’ve ever seen in human history." – Proton’s CEO, Andy Yen

🚨 You should know phishing attacks are getting worse.
Our anti-abuse team constantly monitors new attacks and they're getting more sophisticated. There's no other way to put it: it's bad.

Have you ever bought something online, only for your inbox to be inundated? They email you that your cart is full or empty or it's something else. The emails are endless. If you use #SimpleLogin aliases, you can quickly disable them and turn off the noise: https://simplelogin.io/docs/getting-started/block-sender/.
@rlux which is why I've always thought defederating should very much be a "absolutely last resort nuclear option" thing.
"Some parents, especially those with younger kids, may incorporate technical solutions, such as parental control apps, though this should be paired with increased communication with children." https://prostasia.org/services/parents/
One thing has been crystal clear since I made the Fediverse my home.
The exposition of greed and corruption by the wealthy, the depth of racial, class, fascist and trans problems, the strategies and schemes of predatory marketing, the wrangling of political legislation, the bias of media is front and center.
I for one, prefer to know who is screwing me over and that information is 100x more available on the Fediverse than on any other platform in my experience.
All others are filled with gripy talking points and witticism with a noticeable lack of depth.
Not here. Facts are here. Even perspective and opinion posts are smarter and have factual data to back them up.
We're not going to go without problems. But here they are fewer and taken care of more quickly.
"As children grow up, they eventually have to learn to navigate an increasingly complex online environment. From inappropriate content to cyberbullying to online predators, the potential for your child to encounter something harmful may seem endless." https://prostasia.org/services/parents/
“This is an industry seeking to be perceived as providing health care,” Yoder said. “We need to be talking about how we’re going to ensure that these facilities, these centers, are held to evidence-based standards of care for women.” https://revealnews.org/article/kentucky-lawmaker-pushes-to-regulate-anti-abortion-pregnancy-centers-after-reveal-investigation/
