I saw a post on Reddit about how to cancel an Adobe subscription without the asshole "early cancellation fee" and figured it's worth sharing:

1. Login to your adobe account
2. Go to plans and payments
3. Find your current plan and select "Manage Plan"
4. The third box on the right should say "Cancel Plan"
5. It will ask you why, tell them "Go fuck yourself" and press continue
6. It will offer you to change plans, select "Photography plan (20GB)" - $9.99
7. Confirm the change
8. Now go back to your Plans and it may say "You'll be able to manage this plan shortly" and that's because there is a waiting period after starting a plan, probably to ensure you forget to cancel or something. Took about an hour for it to go away, so if it's there just walk away and refresh the page every 15 minutes or so.
9. Once you are able to manage your plan, repeat steps 3, 4, and 5. This time actually cancel the plan. There will be no early cancellation fee AND you'll be refunded the $9.99.

Fuck adobe.

The idea that stigma enables abuse is a difficult one to understand, and even some experts struggle with the concept. However, the science is clear and the explanation can be simple. We discussed how stigma impedes prevention in a previous blog post: buff.ly/3DKRw6Q

End-to-end encryption has been highlighted as a critical privacy measure for abortion seekers and providers since the reversal of Roe, and has long been a demand from groups including racial justice activists, LBGTQ+ folks, immigrants, and journalists. wired.com/story/end-to-end-enc

Now, we need 🐦Apple to secure the communications of its users by implementing the RCS messaging protocol for iMessage, which would allow texts between iPhone & Android users to be end-to-end encrypted. This is a non-negotiable next step.

Despite law enforcement claims (& years of pressuring Apple to NOT end-to-end encrypt iCloud), encryption makes people more safe, not less safe. This will improve human rights & digital security globally, especially for people and communities that are already over-surveilled.

Apple’s reputation as the pro-privacy tech company has long been at odds with the reality that iCloud backups aren’t secured by end-to-end encryption. This news means peoples’ personal messages, documents, and data will be secure from law enforcement, hackers, and Apple itself.

@team As an android user, I'd like to see Google follow in Apple's footsteps here.

@team True. If Apple *really* cared about privacy and end-to-end encryption, they'd implement RCS

@shipp @evacide I think Dropbox and Google should continue. The reason why Apple's plan was so horrendous is because Apple's plan was to do the scanning *ON YOUR DEVICE*. That is way, way too privacy invasive (compared to comparing files that you *upload* to a pre-existing database of hashes)

@evacide Excellent! Love to see people come together and stand up for privacy against ill-conceived and invasive plans

Apple has finally killed its ill-conceived plan to scan photos for CSAM. This is a direct result of work by experts and activists. Speaking up is important and sometimes we win.
