Twitter just banned a bunch of competing platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post). So I'm done with it.

This is just sad and pathetic, tbh, lol

They're also banning the likes of linktr.ee, lnk.bio and so on.

Lol. Musk is seeing the exodus, so he's trying to bar the doors as everyone rushes for the exits.

No more linking to other social networks or sharing your username.

Such free speech.

Okay, next prediction: his best buddies will be making "obviously it's not against free speech to block links to competitors. Why should anyone be forced to help its competitors" arguments all day...

There's a lot of discussion about #birdsite and #journalism right now. While we are still having ongoing discussions about how best to handle our presence there, we can say confidently that we plan on staying on Mastodon indefinitely, barring unforseen circumstances.

journalists and their outlets risk looking weak right now, without principles. so what's the response to musk? plead to be allowed back, acknowledging his power over them?

or say, fine, if you want to treat journalists this way, we're gone. boycott or just leave. outlets could easily decide not to post content for a day, a week, forever.

Earlier today Elon Musk said that my ban was temporary, 45 min later he denied my appeal to reinstate my account and confirmed that I am *permanently* banned. The email I just received says the decision cannot be reversed.
I have never once violated Twitters rules or terms of service. I’ve never had a single tweet flagged, my account was permanently banned with no warning and with no reason, after I reached out to Musk for comment.
