@Amikke It is often the case that the loudest people are the most toxic.

Almost all 'big' App Store providers like Google and Apple require content moderation for apps like Twitter & Mastodon, even the European Union said this to Elon and Twitter..

This is not to withhold content but to set some boundaries to prevent a wild online west and I totally agree!

You cannot put a platform out there for people to use and hold your hands off it, be responsible for the content you host and take action where and when needed

“Elon Musk should pay taxes” now considered by Twitter T&S to be hate speech.
Or, Elon has his hands on the levers directly

So apparently as part of the "spam purge" this morning in which tons of Twitter accounts were mistakenly suspended, Twitter suspended the two biggest Elon stan accounts (until people complained and they were reinstated). 😂

you know what group Hitler also was notoriously eager to murder? the mentally ill.

2022: Mastodon will never replace Twitter

The EU, UK, and various states are pushing "protect the children!" laws that will effectively mandate age verification technologies for most websites.

Turns out the French data protection agency (which doesn't mess around) has said that all existing age verification technologies violate people's privacy...

Warning: Do not use Hive Social ⚠️🐝

We found multiple critical security vulnerabilities in the App, leaking private messages, posts, images and user data like phone numbers, emails and birthdates.

The #OnlineSafetyBill will make messaging apps scan what you're saying and what images you're sharing before they get encrypted. It unlocks your privacy.

I just graphed Mastodon's MONTHLY ACTIVE USERS each day for the month of November.

At the end of October there were 496K active users, and at the end of November there are 2.6M -- that's over 500% growth.

This is just ACTIVE users; there are millions more non-active accounts.

(For comparison, Twitter allegedly has 396.5M monthly active users, or about 152x the active userbase of Mastodon.)
