Now I’m not a lawyer or nothing, but I’m inclined to say this professor accused by a random TikTok personality of committing a quadruple homicide (who sent multiple C&Ds) based on nothing more than a wild hunch and a Google search, has a not-terrible defamation case.

Not that I should wade into the quotepost debate, but has someone already proposed an opt-in feature for it? That is, your posts could only be quoted if you toggle the option first? Would that satisfy both parties? Doesn't have to be all or nothing, I can't imagine. I have no quotehorse in this race.
