As the semester approaches I think it's time to post a larval ball video.

As I think about climate change humanity and human tenacity the story of Lystrosaurus takes on a new horror. Lystrosaurus was a herbivorous dicynodont therapsid that lived just before the Great Dying. They were about 2m long. Before the extinction they lived to be 13 years old on average, sometimes much longer.

But, after the extinction they were among the only large land animals alive on earth. The ... "thrived" -- making up 90% of land animals.

But now their lifespan was only 2 years. 1/

During WWI, Marie Curie created a vehicle that contained a hospital bed, a generator, an X-ray machine and photographic darkroom equipment. These “petite Curies" (below) could be driven right up to the Front. Curie also helped train 150 women as radiology technicians.

This has mostly been reported as "trans women banned from women's chess" but it's much more sinister. (as if it weren't already.)

ALL trans people are targeted by this ruling. Trans men will be stripped of all chess titles won, which can only be returned to them by “changing the gender back to a woman” (from the ICF’s ruling). ALL transgender chess players will be marked as trans in their files.

If you play or know anyone who does take a stand on this. It's ugly.

今天在院子里的水泥地上碰到了一只背着宝宝的豹蛛（可能是拟环纹豹蛛）招摇过市，视觉效果非常诡异——可能是因为超过了人眼在这个距离的分辨率吧，加之与水泥地的颜色又有点近，看过去它整个腹部的背侧都是模糊的，让我怀疑眼睛是不是出了问题
